Movie Review

The J Team seems really in par with other Disney Channel and Nickelodeon original movies about being happy to stand out. Such as High School Musical and Camp Rock.

In The J Team JoJo (JoJo Siwa) isn't scared to stick out. She lives in a multicoloured bedroom, dresses in sparkling hair bows and sequined coats, and dances with the mailman on her way to dance rehearsal. Things appear to be going swimmingly. She adores Val (Laura Soltis), her ballet teacher, and is encircled by "The Rubies," her two closest friends (Kiara T. Romero and Kerrynton Jones).

But when Val declares her retirement after 30 years as a dancing coach and the no-nonsense Poppy (Tisha Campbell) takes her place.

Things were off to a rocky start, with Poppy stating categorically that she will not tolerate any of the sparkly, rainbows, or bows that make JoJo, well, JoJo. JoJo does her hardest to fit in, but she simply can't seem to turn off her glitter. The J Team, and recruits a diverse group of athletes to join her. She may fall, but if there's one thing JoJo knows how to do, it's get back up.

From bows and coats to any piece of dazzling or bright dog apparel one can imagine. BoBo, you're a trooper. We adore you.

It's sure to please JoJo fans, families, and others. From the minute JoJo wakes up in her rainbow bedroom and begins dancing along the street with everyone she encounters. This is a lovely, exuberant film that puts its heart on its sleeve. It's difficult to criticise a video with such wonderful intentions. Especially when the children who watch it will most likely be chanting these songs for weeks to come.

Best Dialogue

The dialogue in The J Team is pretty cheesy, but I was admittedly tickled by Tisha Campbell’s delivery of “not now, Mom, I’m changing lives!” upon answering the phone.
